The promise for 2011

Many promises are made and broken for the New Year. I think mostly because we think big and demand too much of ourselves. Some are just the opposite and some say what promise!

When I say the promise, I always think of the song "When in Rome". and the promise my friend Ernie made to me 12 years ago he has kept. So some promises are good and have long lasting benefits.

So here goes my promise! It's simple, basic and not many words. But it’s honest and to the point and meaningful to those who know me.

The promise: I wish love and peace to all of you in 2011 and that I can say this again for the year 2012....Party hard tonight, but be wise! Don't drink and drive, it's cheaper getting a hotel than paying DUI fines and most important when you awake tomorrow you want to be whole so enjoy the might ahead with caution. And as long as allowed to live in 2011, I promise to be there for all of you!

Thanks to all who made my life and Rob’s wonderful in 2010....

Jehovah's Witnesses

I again have been picking up copies of the Watchtower and Awake to see what updates there may be in this religion. I don’t say sect, for I truly believe they are a religion. Yes like many other sects they utilize methods that isolate you from your family if not in line with there belief’s and many other I don’t want to get into.

My blog is not to degrade the religion! I grew up a JW and have to say it helped me be the gay man I am today. Like many other religions they have child abuses, wife battery, child molestation and many other things you see with imperfect people. The only issue I have with the religion is that like Catholics they hide the issues internal so that it does not become public and thereby give them a bad name.

That being said I want to discuss an issue I read on the August 2010 (now published monthly) in the Awake. This is an issue that bothers me most than any other. If you can't get the story of the creator correctly, everything below that falls apart. When the word "he" is used to describe the creator. Since in heaven there is no distinguish between male and female, there would be no "he" or "she". In addition the creator made both Man and Woman, one with common sense would have to say the creator is a combination of both.

As humans we see things from a male/female perspective. That seems to guide us almost in everything we do. This is not the case in some civilization in the past and even some today! But in the general those that follow the western world see things this way. Could you imagine seeing people being their sexual orientation and just focus on their qualities. I understand to keep people in order and the original command to fill the earth some roles need to be players as father, mother, daughter and son.

But let’s face it the world is beyond population and as humans we should be looking at what is needed to go to the next phase of creation. Some like JW's are waiting for the creator to address the issue. Come down, kill people somehow keep these special ones alive and start a new world.

I would challenge this idea and say it's time we look at the original request and based on findings, "don't wait to be told (or a miracle), start addressing human needs always from sexual orientation needs.

Well that is Dr Q FOR NOW

Happy Birthday My Mother

There are many things we as humans can do without a mother! However one of the necessary items for success is a loving mother.

Don't get me wrong, there have been very successful people without a mother and either dealt with just a dad or none of either and made it. But from my experience my mother was the key ingredient for my success.

My mother has this instinct that is unbelievable! She always seems to know when something is bothering me; she many times came to my aid without me asking a word. I remember when I first got married and things were tough, a bag or two would show up Sunday morning at my door with bread, cheese and other nice things to have for my two kids,

Today I and Robert live close to my mother. She no longer does much for she is not in good health and has terrible arthritis! However you can still read her eyes! She does not have to say much!

Mu mother turns 76 today! It's an amazing task if you knew our history! She alone raised 3 kids and all are successful. None have been in jail yet (except for that situation with my brother, misunderstanding). And all live close to her. It's something she never asked for but we all knew she wants us nearby at the end.

I speak for my sister and brother when I say, my mother is a jewel to us! She is the rock that sometimes is needed to stay in a straight line. Yes, she keeps us in tact and we love her for it.

She will never read this, but down deep she already knows, that who I am today, is all due to her efforts in keeping me focused on my goals!

A Boy Toy! Seacrest!

I don’t know why I feel like this and I am sure therapy would help, but I have the same negative feelings to Seacrest as I do for Oprah. I have already blogged on Oprah so I don’t want to give her any more fame but here it goes on Sea crest!

I am happy to see that Disney being Gay friendly is giving Seacrest the privilege to host the Disney Parade. But every time I see this dude I don’t think Gay (though it's obvious) I think' what the fuck do people see in him! Now Nick Cannon on the west side of Disney just comes across as a nice man, proud of his wife and family he has ahead. He seems genuine, but Seacrest comes across as a dishonest fake human being.

Maybe it goes back to when all of a sudden American Idol was minus one and he did not even mention the change, I don’t know!

I do know from sources that he should be happy he is Dick Clark's or was his play toy. Besides that he has no talent, comes across as scripted and just for once I wish he would say fuck that guy looks hot. After all he is surrounded by them and focuses so much on the girls you know he is screaming g like Ricky Martin was to come out.

I think when someone writes Dick Clark's memoires, it will definitely be reveled who Seacrest really is and then may then I can start appreciating his talent.

Oprah, a material girl with no time!

I have never been followers not do I even like here. Not that I have any reason to dislike her, but she has always annoyed me and it's going on 25 years. As happy as she is the show is over, no-one could be happier than me that we no longer praise someone who takes from the white while being dishonest.

Rosie started with the giving away of gifts to the audiences and Oprah saw dollar signs and went thought the ninth degree to make sure she goes down in history as giving cars appliances etc. Believe me it did not cost Oprah a dime to give away anything. But it got publicity and her more money.

I just wish she would of adopted children or had some (oh let’s not forget dishonesty on being gay) and given of her time. It's easy to throw money around when it creates m ore for you, but time. Hummmm time with being a mother, helping those in need has no material reward.

I don’t wish her any bad fortune and hope her channel OWN meets its goals. However to me she will go down as a woman who utilized the white people greed for materialistic needs to become successful.

If she was a good woman and utilized her time to help others, she would have stopped Tom Cruise from making a fool of him on her show. But then again that got her more ratings.

Dumb ass people bought her crap and she has become one of the riches people in the world.

What 2011 will bring us?

As we finish a decade and another year there are those that start pondering on what’s in store for 2011! If only we knew, many riches would come our way! No-one knows what’s in store and even based on biblical prophecy the creator does not look ahead.

So what will 2011 bring us? Well it's very simple! Whatever we want it to bring us! Except for death anything is possible so reach for the stars and maybe between here and there, you will find happiness which is all we are looking for.

So may 2011 bring you all the happiness you deserve and blessings we all need to stay positive in this world that at times is very hard?

Lack of Communication=Low Tolerance From Americans

We Americans have the patience of a butterfly! If you notice a butterfly rarely stays still and is always on the move! It takes strong leadership to keep American's intact and informed and filled with hope.

The latest news from all sectors is we have been in a recovery! Years from now when all data is collected we will know when the recent recession or as I called depression bottomed out. However not o America's! I have been through 3 of these maybe 4 and nothing seems to be ever learned from them to avoid them from starting to begin with. They all have a beginning middle and end and it seems to always catch everyone off guard! This is the part of recessions that bother me.

Leaders are in charge to look ahead and plan. Not everyone is born to lead! Actually there are very few people who we can call great leaders. They are called to the front lines when things are going wrong. Not because the former leader was not doing his/her best, they were just not leaders.

A leader can't be too focused on what Americans are thinking today. They have to do what’s best for tomorrow, next year etc. If a leader has a jerk reaction to our immediate needs he/she fails from the start. A great leader plans, informs and executes.

For instance I have not heard Obama say anything about the stock market. It was around 6500 when he took office and is around 11400 today. Usually that is the start of a recovery. Yes it's not helping every American now but it is setting the state for things to come.

For being an excellent communicator Obama has fallen short in communicating to Americans who have very little patience and expect things done overnight. He may last one term due to one basic fault "lack of communication" to the American people. It's been the downfall of many great leaders!

Change, and who it must encompass!

It is wonderful to see efforts being made to change our teenagers with challenges developing all along our country. But one must remember that any effort made at schools need to encompass parents. Our children end up going back to the parents who feed our youngsters, the homophobic, prejudice and no doubt bully their children.

We can't change the next generation if we don't address the present generation. We can try and some will be moved, but the majority end up being what and who they hang around.

"Bad associations spoil useful habits" as the bible says, and bad parents need to be retrained for their children to be successful.

Any effort needs to encompass parents!

It Takes Two Presidents To Push A Bill!

I don't know how many people noticed but yesterday President Obama brought in the big gun to sell what he negotiated with the republicans. Though former President Clinton is one of my favorite presidents and I understand the reason they are trying to sell this bill, I along with many other Americans’ wish Obama stuck to his promise and not give more to the rich.

First let me say I understand politics very well! And I remember Reagan's big speech, if you take care of the rich scraps are sent our way. However the issue I have is The Promise! I am tired of presidents promising things while running for office then not following through. Obama has lost all credibility with me and most Americans I speak with democrat/republicans.

It's a shame, he came to power with such momentum that it's sad to see him fall apart. I said it then and I say it aging, it’s Carter all over again. Here are my recommendations My President:

Since your going to be a one term president I would do the following:
Use your executive power and abolish meaningful shit into law, like "Don’t ask don't tell"!
Don't wait for congress sign into law equal civil rights for all including Gay people.
Don’t cave in to give more to the rich! How often to they have to tell you them make enough.
Focus on fixing our infrastructure!
Focus on teaching our children!
If the American people don't have it then politicians should not have it either. Abolish all perks congressman and senators have.

Lame Duck Sesion-Time for a Revolution!

Why is it that some of the highest paid citizens of the US (Government employees) get to have lame duck sessions? Does their salary get reduced when they do nothing?

This is why at times I see a revolution coming! You already see it in Europe with the have's and have not's. It amazes me we the citizen’s of this country allow such behavior. Dam they have a job to do and it's ok to agree to disagree, but doing nothing should not be an option.

Maybe their salaries should be attached to how many bills they pass and how the deficit is being managed. I mean we are ready to pass some laws that put’s us further in the red, and even though the republicans ran on change and cutbacks, there they are supporting this bill.

Even the rich say they don’t need the money, but it does not matter we need to make them richer. When Buffett says he pays less taxes than his secretary and he is one of the wealthiest Americans, don't we get it.

I personally am disappointed at Obama on many fronts, but then I did not vote for him! I am not sure McCain with all his good intentions and the idiot Palin would do any better. But I hope someone with common sense and business background runs for office and keeps the promises made.

And this lame duck session! If you’re not moving shit forward then let’s stop paying them. Lawmakers get the best of everything and we hold no-one accountable. Disgraceful... and time for a revolution...

You either make history, or your part of history.

I was watching the movie Troy last night and this line really made me think! So much so that here I am at 3 AM writing this blog. Most of us don’t set out to make or change history!

The majority of us are born nestle in and then after having a family move on. But a limited some are born to make history. Some of our presidents, world leaders, educators and even some of the general public you can tell were born to make a difference on where we have been and more so where we are going.

It's not necessary something planned! With reality shows we have seen the common folk make history that was never planned in their mind and we have seen some leaders afraid to make history leaving it for others to do.

I say this, if you’re given the opportunity to make history thereby making a difference to millions of lives in a positive way run with it! If not be part of history and embrace good or bad what lies before you and do the best to reflect positive in others. Wise decisions go along way in determining is we are part of or make history. Our ability to lead and convince is also key in molding history.

If you watched Troy, he was driven to e remembered and not necessarily goal driven or righteous driven. I believe those who make history and are remembered do it for the people and thereby are never forgotten.

This Christmas!

I always think of the song "this xmas I gave you my heart and the very next day you gave it away". So that is not an issue for I gave Rob my heart going on 12 years and he never gave it away or returned it so what to get him "this xmas?

One thing you notice as you age is there is less and less to give people that are older. Most if not all have had everything they need and "things" are no longer important. It's not like money is flowing so it can't be anything expensive either.

So "this xmas" I need to go back to basics and think out of the box! We had some nice bathrobes I threw away in Miami never thinking we would ever use them! Well here we are in Tampa where nights go to the 30's and we definitely could use a nice cotton fluffy robe, so there is that possibility.

Though we all say xmas is a time of giving, we also like receiving something. It's not even how much it costs it's the thought your in someone's mind and being thought of. Rob has always had a challenge with buying anything for me. I really don't need anything so what I might do is buy two robes and there is our xmas presents.

Something we need, will use and cozy up as I know he will be buying me movies he wants. Rob always buys me movies that he wants! It's an excuse to get them and then add them to the hundreds we have in the closet.
We still need to be mindful of the kids and grandson along with a little thing or two for our immediate family. Sometimes something simple, but I get joy watching them smile.

Like every other xmas I will find joy in giving, but dam it, I want that robe I threw away. It's in the 40's this am and I could use it.

When someone you love, loses touch!

One of the blessings of the holidays is that people you haven’t seen for a while are motivated or one is motivated to forget the past and make an effort to reach out. Such a situation happened this week. I tend to navigate towards young men and women and I had lost touch with one about 6 years ago. This week he txt'd us!

Victor was and still is like a son to us! We met like we meet most of our friends, at a club, online or I just reach out to anyone anywhere. I forgot actually how we met Victor but one day he is living with us and becomes like our son. No questions asked no questions needed to ask. I enjoyed celebrating holidays with him since our children tended not to be around. I loved him for whom he was! He had his head on straight and though at times we disagreed, it's what made us a family.

I used to make lunch for him and at times get him lunch. He worked two jobs and still had time to get into trouble. However he was not a troubled kid. Victor was in our heart and one day he left that spot. I am a believer your hearts has various levels and as you navigate through life people go through the various levels with you.

My family asked about Victor and our friends also wondered how he was doing. So now I am happy to report to all that, Victor is fine and working in New Jersey. I am also happy to report that the past has been forgotten and the relationship started where we left off.

Happy Holiday's!

What makes for a good relationship!

There is no specific right answer to this question. Not even people who have been together for 50 years necessarily had good relationships! Sometimes after being together for a number of years you just learn to live with each other. I have lots of examples in my family and inner circle that proves this. However that does not mean from their eyes they are not in a good relationship!

We all look at relationships differently. I am always mindful of the couple that has been together for over 50 years and you swear based on what you see and hear they don’t like each other until one dies! Usually it's followed by depression and death by the other person. Besides the fact they maybe had a good relationship, loneliness creeps in and then they pass away themselves.

My answer to what is a good relationship is very in tune with my business experience. People don’t look at relationships as a business and my x hated when I said that, but relationships are the biggest investment and partnership you will ever enter. It takes time to understand each other and co-exist with some harmony. And most important good or bad times should make your relationship stronger.

So here it goes:
Define expectations
Define roles
Set goals
Periodically review what works what does not
Never go to sleep angry
Love the person not the behavior
Work on changing behavior
Respect each other
Cherish each  day with the person
Be family focused
Become one

The Power Of Giving!

Robert had not seen Blane since he was maybe 10. I of course saw Blane just before we moved here over a year ago. I told Robert (us being admires of young good looking people), how Blane has become a good looking respectful young man, along with his brother Justin.

Well yesterday out of the bloom, Blane shows up with a friend named Joe to see his "cous" as we all call each other though its second generation. He was also stopping by to see his grandpa who happened to be here (kind of kill one bird with two stones! Quickly he adjusted to me and Rob and warmed up along with his buddy Joe wanted to see the house, talked music with Rob and somehow we ended up in talking about clothes and shoes.

Well over the years Rob and I have collected a "Macy's" closet! Before you know it Blane fell in love with Rob's old authentic biker leather jacket he hasn't worn since I met him and the boy was all smiles. Joe got a pair of brand new Puma's I never had worn since they were a little too tight but I had to buy then "sex in the city episode"!

His mother tells me his smiled yesterday and it was still going today along with mirror poses.... He is 21!
I and Rob talked today how happy it made us feel to see him with a huge grin asking are you sure I can have this, like we were teasing him.

Blane you may never read this blog but yesterday you left yours cousin’s lots of joy, taking ownership of something we would never miss! Enjoy it, treasure it and maybe pass it along so you can appreciate the power of giving.

Two books worth burning!

A few weeks ago I suggested (well you would have to buy it) to burn George W. Bush's book. For all of us who lived it, do we really need to know what led him to make some of the worst decision in history! As you can see the fanfare has died down.

Now comes Palin with her, I am sure most amazing book ever. After all the woman is an amazing sales person though an idiot when it comes to politics (let me take that back, she has touched other idiots wearing tea bags on their hats).

I am not one to buy either book, but dam it, I just may just for the pleasure of seeing them burn and putting it on U-Tube if someone does not beat me to it.

I just wonder if the polluted words in the book would hurt our environment! hummm Burn, Burn, Burn!

From Horror's to Managing Nightmares

I don't know why, bust since my first accident which I should be glad I was kept alive I started having nightmares. At first it was horrible ones with death all around me. I used to wake up feeling like I buried people in the garage, backyard and in the woods behind our Jersey room.

At first I could not get doctors to believe me. Then all these tests were done to find out there was some issues with my brain. For months every time I heard a siren I thought, yup they are here for me. These murders were so real! I would see dead people in my bedroom and talk to them until Rob would notch me and wake me up.

Well that went on and then a Doctor in Miami gave me some medication and it stopped. Now I have another dilemma. I am up all night and its very visit as I have discussions with my family on issues of the day. I also manage these people and tell them how to do it better. Again these go on until Rob nudges me and when I fall back to sleep I pick up the dream.

It's like I am awake while this is happening, but I can't stop it! I imagine the part of the brain I used for years is trying to stay active. All the Process Improvement books and papers I wrote are still stored there and now being used during my sleep.

I never killed anyone so I don't know why I had the Horror dreams! But the PI ones make sense. The brain is an amazing organ and who knows what my thoughts will do tomorrow night! One thing is for sure, I need to get my day more active so it tires out or my nights make me work.

A World Without People

It sometimes feels when you try to address a customer service issue related to a purchase you made online that we havew a world without people. We live is this automated worls that is supposew to make our living easier. IN the process as I have expressed it has done just the opposit.

I have been trying without success to tell Sprint that I returned their phones that came with a 2 year plan and that since I returned them I should have two phones available to buy at reduced prices if not free. Well after many emails and lots of calls to automated answering services I think I just gave up.

It's like this everywhere (though some comapnies are changing) that gives us the impresion there are no people that care anymore. I know it's more expensive to put a person on the line and address cuatomer issues. It's even more expecnsive to add people with common sense and that can seak english. But I am a firm believer these are the companies that succeed.

I just wish that executives of companies realize we are a world with people, who have challenges in their lives and don;t need added complication such as a credit for a phone. I mean after sending copies of the returned receipt which was the last request, we were back to square one.

I am tied between using automated services or people, Sometimes both suck due to a number of factors. Sometimes I am between these walls and just imagine what the world would be without people, stupid people!

Old Guard Same Challenges

The Democrats and Republicans just chosen leaders for the next congress. If you expected changes, you’re in for a huge surprise. I don't actually blame government anymore, I blame the voters who believe in the crap that is sent our way.

The same leaders have swapped positions and the same challenges will face us all. We have a President who left his balls somewhere just before the oath of office and even his own communities (black voters) have left him.

I recently heard from my cousin, "I am so tired of the bullshit, I don’t vote anymore". I don’t necessarily agree with this approach, but totally understand.

All we need to do is keep getting higher boots so we can keep the crap from going inside, as we move on through life.

The importance of Vitamin D-live longer and happier

I am a firm believe that vitamin D is critical to avoiding many diseases that attack your immune system such as cancer, HIV etc. This morning there is news from the scientific world that it also avoids you experiencing a stroke.

Of course one of the easiest ways to get vitamin D is to take in some sun. For 20 minutes a day in the sun we get all the Vitamin D we need. So living in Florida this should not be a problem for anyone. What amazes me is how many people with do everything possible to avoid the sun.

I have friend who live in either the south or tropical islands and are white as white can be. Not because they can't get dark, but because they avoid the sun like a plague. I totally agree with Suzanne Sommers that most of the possible solutions for many sicknesses today lie within our grasp and in the earth in one form or another.

So next time your feeling the blues and it's a sunny day, don't go to bed but put a nice pair of sunglasses on and spend 20 minutes taking in the sun.

Birthday's-Or Maturity

It seems no matter where you go today someone asks for your DOB. It could be a job application, some government form, Utilities etc. Everyone asks for when you were born and at time where. So why is your birthday so important?

There are a number of reasons why your birthday is so important. Through your life when you get to a certain age you are allowed to do certain things like, drive, get married, military, vote etc.

The government uses your birthday for various reasons and one of them is to keep track how long people are living. Based on this number they tend to increase the age before you can retire, so that there is enough money for the few years you may depend on them.

It is unfortunate that along with your DOB they don’t attach maturity or common sense to it. For instance, just because your 18 does not mean you’re ready to get married or at 15 ready to drive. Girls at times start being mother at 13/14 and definitely that does not mean they are ready for children.

In some cultures and in past history your parents made decisions. In some cultures it was no better than just going by age but in others they looked at the maturity of the individual before blessing certain arrangements.

I have always had a problem that we send our children to war at 18, but don't think they are mature to handle alcohol. If drinking age is 21 then going to die for your country should be 21. I happen to be at a Hard Rock Cafe a number of years ago, when there were a number of sailors at the bar. Because they were not 21 they were asked to leave the bar. I found that unjust and this is when age should not matter.

The Bible says sometimes teaching comes from the mouth of babes. If you can handle a gun, you should be able to handle a drink no matter what your age is.

Until next time, Dr Q

Could it be that time programmed me?

They say early to bed, early to rise! It must be what I am experiencing nowadays. I tend to fall asleep around 8 and up at 4. Of course in between I get up a few times too. I have never been one to sleep for hours straight and I don’t like naps during the day.

It's not like I have to go to work. For some reason when I had to work getting up was very difficult at times. Now that I can sleep the time I want, my body for some reason does not want to.

I remember getting up in the middle of the night to address work issues in India and Honk Kong. I remember a site being down and needing to approve someone to be on site at the FAA. I remember working around the clock sleeping in my office at the end of the month to make the numbers for the month.

Could it be that time programmed me? Could it be that my inner thoughts relish those times? Could it be I wish I was back to those days? Could it be.......

Happy Veteran's Day! But Peace Never!

Even though American's clelebrate Veteran's day every year, you would think the thought of the day would be honor those who died and how do we stop war's from happeneing so no more die? So that is the challenge for world leaders , especially ours.

There is the religious answer that conflict will exist until the world ends! There is the human factor that some people just are war oriented and need to be reprogrammed for peace and respect for human life!

But I have a very simple answwwer to stopping war! I am a very basic simple person and tend to look at the root cause and solve the issue. But unfortunetly I am the minority!

The last two wars we entered we got involved so that the fight is there and not in our land! We also wanted to stop a country from developing nuclear weapons that could reach our shores or those countries we cherish.

Both are not the reasons! And when we realize we did wrong we come up with some othr reason that in the end destroys countries and kills thousands of American's. I always wonder why Canada, Australia and most of Europe stay out of conflict unless we squeeze them into it with us!

The answer is very simple! America should mind its own business! Take care of it's people! Protect invest in itself! America should realize some of these countries have been at war since the beginning of time and it will never change! Yes humanariun aid should be given, dropped from the sky like Christ did with Mana.

So there you go! Such a simple answer that would save millions so we can pay for national healthcare so Americans don;t have to worry about being sick with no insurance. What the fuck matters if we keep war from our borders if we can even have the basic healthcare to keep us alive.

We just elected a bunch of idiots who have an agenda to get the president but no-one discussed why and how to get americans back! How to protect our borders (and not the false of security the FAA provides). Or how we can keep every american healthy since this is a right in the 20th centure.

So to those who fought and died for our country, my heart goes out to you! But if only, yes if only we could just all get along and mind our own business!

Government out of cost control! Start with the pennies and the dollars grow!

Since President Clinton, no president has balanced the budget, never mind leaving office at a surplus as Clinton did. Why we forgot that and elected Obama is beyond me. Fiscal responsibility should be the president's main focus. That may mean leaving two wars we will never win, which could pay for national healthcare.

Maybe Hillary would have addressed this need, maybe not! One will never know! But I supported government for a little over 10 years and let me offer some recommendations how to control the budget!

Start with the pennies and the dollars take care of themselves!
This is so true and never followed. I worked on a number of projects both for the FAA and the Military as well as State government and if this basic principle was adhered to we would have a balanced budget everywhere.

Example FAA spends millions redoing a project because of lack of planning, poor management and inadequate oversight both from the government and contractor side.

Military spent 20M implementing an ICMM process when they did not build anything just to impress Washington and receive additional funds for something they did not do to begin with.

These are just two examples of millions the government could save by having independent oversight and periodically reports on what is working and not. These are the pennies never mind the dollars.

Recently I was the PM for a major military project that again was estimated at 30-45M and the contractor was managing anticipating and implementing a system they knew would go to 100M or more, No matter what you say (And I wrote to military commander at the fort) the project continues. The reason is like so many other government projects, everyone is in bed together.

If anyone is reading this that is in upper management at the government, start with the pennies and you will see the dollars grow!

When to say NO! If you can't pay, don't play! "The Dark Side"!

From my experience and based on what I have seen and done in recent years there comes a time when you have to say NO! I am not talking about children or even teenagers, sometimes even though society tends to chastise them; it's the adults that need to learn when to say NO!

I have to include along with my experience those that I have personally had to either walk away from, chastise myself or we lost contact because they ended up in rehab or jail.

I thing humans like the rest of the animal kingdom at times do things that are fun but not necessarily accepted by some. Its here I say, those that have an addictive personality need to learn the word "NO".

Some people can go into the world of heavy sex, alcohol binges, drugs and other vices and walk away and either try it again months or years down the road and there are those that once they start they can't let go. It becomes their life and everything, work, family and friends rotate around that vice.

I always caution people I have encountered through the years that if you have a an additictive personality they either need to learn how to say "NO" or stop associating with those that don't let an activity run their lives. It's easy to say than to do! So what I have learned is to know my friends and associates good enough, so I can say no for them when encountered with such situations.

Sometimes it does not work! We have this very close friend that is like our son and when he is around us, he can't say "NO", we can't say "NO" and it becomes a miserable situation and sometimes an embarrassment to us and our friends and family. Out of all the drugs in the world the one I used to love! The one my dad died of! And the one I abhor around me is a drunk!

People have the power to say no, no matter what drug is your demon! But first you need to like and/or love the people around you enough to know that addition affects them more than you. In time you end up alone like my dad who died at an age of 42 all by himself on a running ditch.

So if you can't pay, don’t play! I was happy to have found a man that assisted me with my demons and me with his so that I am still here at 52. And though at times we may temporarily lose our balance, it's always under control with the slogan "if you can't pay the price, don't play with the drug! Analyze you behavior after and listen to those around you and make changes.

Everyone likes to as Star Wars puts it "go to the dark side", but when you do have the path to return to the good side and when necessarily say "NO" if you know you’re an addictive person. Don't play with the Dark Side, many never come back!

What your wallet says about you! and those watching!

I never thought about this subject, but today while wafting for some lab work that never happened because even lab technicians can't read a doctors script, I was going through my wallet! I was amazed at how much the wallet has said about me through the years.

There was the late 70's when we did not even have a credit card. The days before everything became electronic and somewhat more complicated. Thought technology was to relieve us of more time, the opposite happened and we all got caught up in the 80's!

Wow the 80's we traveled the world, vacationed  every 3 months to some exotic island, usually Puerto Rico and on a TWA flight with my mom head actually to PR, I was paying the bills on the flight when we actually mailed bills and there were 23 credit card payments. Yup 23 credit cards between the family, with Shaun and Sherry having their own American Express by the early 90's.

It did not say we were rich it said we could charge everything we wanted, even a six week to Portugal and the most expensive week ever 8k for us to stay in Kew West for 7 days and 6 nights. My wallet said we could afford it (though we could not) my wallet had insurance for the family (the best at that) my wallet said I belonged to various organizations, could call someone to get my car if it broke down. It showed my kids and family and it took a wallet and small men's bad with a look to take all the airline and hotel cards.

As I looked at my wallet today, it showed how much the world and I have changed! It has mostly medical cards or doctor’s business cards one credit card and a debit card. There are no pictured, those are on my phone, my license though I don't fdrive anymore but comes in handy for identification and some other meaningless stuff. It doesn't show I am poor or wealthy, but it does show I/we live uncomplicated lives.

Next time you see the Capitol One commercial on " what’s in your wallet, (that is the only card we have) you should think what does your wallet say about you when you go to use it. For example the other day my uncle purchased something for the house when we happened to be with him. He pulled out a black Discover card and said "I don't know if this works"! Believe me a black Discover card works and are issued for a limited few! It told me then what I already know, my uncle is ok in his older years.

When you have a minute see for yourself what your wallet says about you and to others when you don’t notice it.

Gay couples launch attack on U.S. marriage law!

Personally I don't like the word attack to demonstrate how important it is to get civil rights! But if attack is what it takes then so be it! Through history minorities have had to fight to receive basic human rights. There was the women movement to vote, blacks to be accepted as equals and now gays to have a right to live as couple and receive benefits’ as such!

What amazes me is that we actually have a President who is of the 20th century and with a strike of a pen could resolve the issue. It could be his flip-flop on this issue like others could explain his dropping in the polls and why the republicans are making a comeback.

Not that we prefer the republicans, but we dislike a president who promises but does not deliver. I don't personally understand the issue! Most of Europe has dealt with this issue without a national revolt, Canada has addressed and even Mexico came to terms with it.

What we need is a President and congress with balls to represent all the people and provide rights to all. I don't believe any religious leader including Christ ever mentioned anything about gay people and from history only Hitler marked and killed gay people. So if we are to embrace human decency and respect along with acceptance of all we would deal and resolve the gay marriage issue and move on!

A Florida Room, Momories of Another Time!

Of course all my bogs today reference the time change. You realize when you need every minute how often time is important. Recently we moved and if you follow my blogs, you know it's a family home that Rob and I are priviledged to live in. My uncle and aunt worked very hard with limited time to get it ready for us a month ahead of time. They don’t read my blogs but Rob and I are grateful they did so in that little time.

Well in the last week a room I call "A Florida Room" has become the space we use our valuable time. It' also where I am blogging this morning though it's like 42 here in Hudson close to the beach. This outside room is surrounded by plans a water fall and all those things we find necessities like TV, CD player etc.

My mother and Rob have spent lots of time this past week just sitting enjoying the Florida warmth and talking about the return of my sister. You see in past time, my home was the center for all. I believe the time has turned around 360 degrees and it will again become the center of my family here. We even speak about getting the recliner for my sister so the 3 of us can again spend quality time. If I am lucky my uncle with build me a BBQ pit so we can spend some time like today around the fire BBQ food.

So Rob and I love this Florida room! I more than him because he is in the house at 72 while I am here in the Florida Room at 42. But it somehow reminds me of where I was born and all the plants around me. I spent allot of time in my grandfathers farms in Madeira Portugal, enjoying the various fruits, plants and wildlife. I sometimes wish I had the time to relive that again. But time moves on and The Florida room I enjoy and close my eyes and relive memories of past time.

Changing time, what day is this?

There was a time I had it down on the button and would even get up at 2 to change the time back 1 hour and the same in the spring. But as you age changing time in the fall and spring becomes a nuisance!

And so we decided to have the family here for breakfast at 9 this morning. Rob is running late always trying to get the last snooze in and runs to the store to get some last minute stuff. Oh well there he is at 640 thinking it's 740.

Yeah time is irrelevant when your disabled and don't have children. It becomes just time. Sometimes if not very often you tend to forget the day and the time. It's something I hear my mother ask often and those that hang around me who tend to be older and have nothing pressing with time.

Yeah there was a time, when I needed every minute to address the kid’s needs, my life partner’s needs, the cats and dog's needs, religious needs, work's needs and when there was time my needs.

Maybe that is why depression kicks in with some, which is when they have lots of time and nothing to preoccupy it! So today we lost an hour of time that I will not even notice. Now I need to go ask Rob what day this is, so that I can catch up with time.

A mental view of paim! The heart beats on, for now!

So now because I am finally on Florida's Medicaid I can start addressing some of my many medical issues. The first and most important I was told was to see a cardiologist. And so patiently that happened yesterday.

I can't complain about the service but it seems all doctors that take Medicaid in this area are from India and so communicating is a challenge. I did get one point across and that is you need to keep active or soon you will be on a wheelchair.

Let me see, I barely sleep nights and that is with taking 3 pills to try and get some sleep. I am in constant pain and it gets worse as I move around bend and even when I just plain sit. I was never one for medications when I was younger, but people should understand without pain medications I live a miserable life.

It's easy to say keep active and I agree, it's another to be up at 4 AM blogging because I only slept 11-3, and even then I awoke twice for the bathroom. Then there is the guilty feeling I get because Rob always awakes to make sure I am ok.

Here are my suggestion doctors! You want me active then give me the medication to numb the pain and active I will be. I haven't yet, but that scream is coming out soon to one if not multiple doctors. This morning is dedicated to more heart tests.... Yes my heart beats faster than most, it's working too hard and the EKG shows signs of problems and I can feel the heart issues I have. But it's not something that developed overnight. My heart has been in trouble since I was 18.

So Doctor, you won’t read this, but chill out do your tests and give me the right medication to manage it and relieve the pain!

Another move! But the last one!

Rob and I have been together for almost 12 years. In the last 12 years we have moved 10 times. Sometimes twice in one year. The first 10 or so years we moved because of my being the main bread maker and where the job's were we moved. However this has changed!

Now on SSDI, Rob has the privilege of taking charge and managing most of my life. As I get older and my health diminishes, he is more and more taking things over. We moved last week to another place and it's the second move this year.

However there is a reason for this move! One it's a family owned residence, it's a little cheaper and we plan on not moving again. This place has everything Rob and I like and we chose the colors and are helping my uncle with the design of the landscaping etc.

Also when we buy something for this house its family, so it's like we are buying it for our house. It has a Florida room where I have all my plans and where I can blog. It's screened and has 3 sliding doors to the house and because the Florida room is screened, we at times sleep with everything opened.

It's an older community, but not gated so we feel like we are part of something verses being locked being a gate. Bett has her fenced yard, but even if we did not have it fenced she never goes too far from us. And so another move, but in our eyes the last one!

My sister comes back home in January and we are looking forward to sitting in our Florida room as she deals with her health issues, my mother dealing with her own and of course mine too. We will hang chat and enjoy each other’s company until it's our time to move on for dust we came from and to dust we shall return!

A Cher Moment/Keeping McDonnel unemployed

When asked during the Hillary/Obama presidential run, Cher (Cher Bono) was asked who she would vote for! I never forgot her answer; "Have we forgotten Carter".

Not that Carter did not care for Americans, actually just the opposite; He cared for and still cares too much for Americans. Hillary like Clinton would have been more political, behind the scenes and in front to the American people.

We don't like the truth and we expect miracles!

The next to years will be like Carter where the Republicans will try to reverse and stop any Democratic agenda and then on 2012 we may go as far as voting for an idiot like Palin! This may be when I use my European passport and head that way with Rob.

I don't expect much in the next two years except to get my SSDI/Medicare for my disability. If some have their way this will be cut dramatically. Let’s see the uproar when some of the idiots we just elected do that.

I have a little good feeling this morning we kept McDonnell unemployed and researching the constitution for the comment of the separation of church and state!

A last political comment-think with the right head

I will use Lady Gaga's comment and urge all the little Monsters to show up at the polls tomorrow and give the present administration more time to get the job done.

It took 8 years to fuck up the country, let’s give the democrats at least 4 years to correct it!

The stock market has doubled in the last two years and I am confident the economy will follow. If we put republicans in charge again, they will spend 2 years trying to get Obama out verses working for us!

Thing with the right head and make the right choice!

Halloween-Demonic or Just Plain Fun?

Depending on who you ask and what country you live you will get either as an answer! I have lived a life as Catholic (plain fun) and JW (demonic tradition). I think it's both! Why do I say that? Because Halloween is like any other holiday, it is what you think it is!

This illustration always reminds me of a situation with my son Shaun! He did not like clowns when he was a child. Of course it just happens I loved clowns and there were plenty in his room. He would get up at night scream and point. We never knew what he was pointing at. You see Shaun did not speak until almost 6 so it was a challenge understanding him.

One of those crying nights I took this huge clown out of his room and he slept like a baby should! Then began the project of removing all clowns from the room and house. Till this day he does not care for clowns. You see clowns aren't bad except to my son and others who may have this phobia. Of course Stephen Spielberg did not make this phobia easier with that clown movie in the 80's!

So holidays are like clowns; to some just another fun day to others scary as shit! To a very limited few both!

Happy Halloween and don't come knocking if you’re a clown!

Family,we loved them!

Recently my immediate and extended family have going out of their way to address some of my needs primarily one of them called LOVE.

An example of this is my Aunt and Uncle Quirino & Gertrude! I am blessed to have an aunt like my sweet aunt Gertrude! She and my uncle bought a house recently that is planned to be my home until I/we die. She in her own way said, we put in sensor back outside lighting, because you know some people may want to hurt you and Rob (being gay) and we don't want that to happen!

They turned an ugly home into our new home and in my heart and the web they will live forever!

They may never read this but Rob and I cannot ask for better FAMILY! Live on Tia e Tio!

What happened to responsibility!

There was a time when parents were responsible for their children! Parents taught their children to be responsibility, i. e. There are consequences to ones actions! I remember my mother telling me time and time again the price you would pay if a specific situation happened.

She instilled in me what I then years later instilled in my children. One of the major challenges was, "bad associations spoil useful habits". I can't tell you how much my mother analyzed my possible friends. She still does this today and I am 52!

As we grow up and especially if you have brothers and sisters we have a tendency to pass the blame on to others. The penalty was severe if we did this in my family. But what has happened to owning up to your responsibility?

It actually has gone the way of losing ethics. Your ethics along with your qualities make up the person. As we see politicians, celebrities and those around us lose both we tend to without noticing embrace bad habits and lose our ethics. It is important to periodically analyze who you are, what you are and how you relate to others. Where there is weakness, work had to improve it.

Therefore own up to your responsibility because good habits and ethics results in success and happiness!

Is Sex a sin!

Easy religious topics can be explained. The ones that are difficult is another question! How is sex and sin related and is sex hetro, gay or whatever a sin?

We need to go back to the beginning of the religious discussion! If you’re not a Christian, it should not matter. But if you are explain this!

Adam and Eve lived for hundreds or even thousands of years happily together with the animal kingdom in a place called paradise. They had no children and never knew they were naked until they sinned and hid from the creator. Quickly they are ushered out before they call eat of the tree of life and then humanity starts.

Since they never seemed to care about running around naked they obviously never had sex. You see sex is a mental thing. An erection only happens with thoughts and sometimes not very good ones in the eyes of man. Especially when you have been together for a while you need extra effort (or others) to get the action going, in one form or another.

And so my discussion ends for I am a true believer that sinners are born from the act of sin!

Vote for a future- UGLY or STUPID AMERICANS

It amazes me how quickly humans forget and quickly want to change direction. This may explain why in corporations we move forward and government we tend to be stale or revert backwards. We all forget the first Bush screwed up the economy for 4 years and it took Clinton 8 years to fix.

We Americans gave the second Bush 8 years to fu.. up and now after a black president has it for les than 2 years we think he is doing a bad job. How about we give the president and his administration at least 4 years before we start judging results!

I was in the corporate world and I used to get results very quickly. But I was moving a boat he in moving a battleship. Yes government is doing too little for what we pay them! But try to get anything done in governed! The layers are so deep it sickened me. I supported government for almost 10 years and you would have to let the government collapse to fix it.

If there is one thing I would of recommended and believe me it would have been painful, was to let things collapse. Let’s give the administration some credit... Obama took office with the Dow at around 6000, today its 11100 almost doubling! And don’t get me going on healthcare. Why not take it from the politicians too. Why should they get the best healthcare while I try to survive and beg for the basics...?

Ok Americans vote with common sense and not sent stupidity to Washington.>> I mean these republicans we are about to send to Washington don't even know the constitution! I don’t say I know it all, but then again I am not running for office.

I had a boss that used to call us UGLY AMERICANS! If we change direction midstream we are not UGLY we are STUPID AMERICANS!

Idolizing humans or money

I am mindful of the scripture "thou should not bow down before any images of me"!

Today we idolize anything from humans or as I am always mindful "money". It is true that we need money. I have been reminded that money can cure many evils, but cannot stop death. It can prolong death but not stop it. Money can make life more interesting and meaningful since with it one does not have to worry about your next meal or how you will pay the bills.

So yes, it can relieve some stress from everyday living. But we have seen time and time again happiness comes from within, so people who have it all sometimes live depressed life's. It’s nice to have a balance, if you’re privileged to have money.

I have never idolized humans (as in Stars) nor have I idolized money. I have been lucky to know some fascinating humans and to have the money I needed to live a good life. Yes today we struggle with both. As you age money starts disappearing and so do people.

In order to be in the main stream and the "A" list as they call it, you need money, visibility, beauty! All of which come between the ages of 25-45!

And so if you did something’s right by age 50 you have made a few good friends, saved a little so that there is no need to idolize either money or humans to have a good fulfilling live!

Succeeding from the nation-States or I

Yesterday two of the very popular show the View walked off the set after O'Rielly expressed his hatred for Muslims. A few idiots marked all Muslims to be people to be afraid off. I believe he has forgotten Germany and the Holocaust  where Jews, Gays and any other community Hitler did not like were tortured and/or put to death.

It's unfortunate he like others don’t understand "a few bad apples does not mean we stop eating apples". In these midterm elections people are afraid! Fear has been installed little by little from the bottom up on having a black president, too much federal government, too much assistance for the poor etc.

I live in a so called "red state", long for a time when I can move to a "blue" one. I want "rights" but agree in an open discussion! I don't hate a community because of what a few may do!

If we are not careful, the minority will overtake the majority with tools such as "fear". Fear has caused us to spend billions on a false of security called TSA. You know those people that cheek little old people though security lines as if they are carrying bombs into the plane.

Our common sense has disappeared. If there is one thing that 9/11 did is turn our nation into one of fear and therefore changed us forever.

We need to remember; the Soviet Union collapsed and realizes the Federal Government could too. Some days we may have the red states as one part of North America and the Blue states the other. I don't think it's a bad idea after all. The small minded closeted right wing could live very comfortably away from those that have inspirations and embrace human beings for who they are and diversity as a way of life.

So I am surprised we haven't had states wanting to succeed from the nation (USA). Our government is out of control and we the people overburden supporting it. The people working fort he Government are the most inefficient in the world. I arrived here 40 years ago because America is where everyone wanted to come.

Not today! I long for a day when I can utilize my European passport and go back to where I can be accepted for whom and what I am! So if nothing else I will succed for the nation by moving to where I am wanted and respected!

Hard to let go of fancy electronic gadges Bye-Bye BB

Robert and I are having one of the most difficult decisions in the last almost 12 years. Letting go of our Blackberry's! It's amazing how much we are sold on the need to have the latest and greatest gadgets. I remember receiving one of the first colored Motorola basic handheld Cell phone. We were as excited as a when a child opens gifts on Christmas morning.

Then we went through the Razor (wow what a phone we thought) we went through Iphone's and though he like it, I thought it was a silly invention. I like a Qwery keyboard. I never got used to that touch screen crap.

So back to Blackberry's we went. Well, when I was working, the Blackberry is a great tool. It sync’s everything (home/work schedules contacts etc), keeps me in touch with the BB user community through IM. No longer do we use MSN, Yahoo or Google IM's.

We have wrestled trying to reduce the cost of having a cell phone and we are still at 150.00 month for two Blackberry’s. With times being so tough and putting money to good use we need to reduce the cell bill. And so this is going on at almost 3 month decision. It's become as difficult as letting our Bam Bam go!

Today we are looking at Straight Talk (ST) $45 monthly service phone/plan. That almost cuts our bill in half, but we have to give up our BB. ST runs on a Verizon network, so at least we will have great service. I guess the best way to look at this is, can we live with a cell phone that can txt (a must) take pictures (damm no flash), communicate (hardly done anyore), Blue Tooth (damm no wi-fi) and provide access to the web (why who knows).

When Rob and I analyzed the issue, we decided we would like the new cell to sync with outlook (just to be fancy), txt and share info with our community that instead of being in our neighborhood is on the web via facebook.

And so Straight Talk may be a fit! But I have 5 more days with a trial offer from Sprint on our BB. We will miss you BB (just to note that BB stands for Blackberry and Bam Bam! What a coincidence!

Right To Die-Don't Ask Don't Tell

The right to die, at least the right to a do-not-resuscitate order, is fairly well established, and hard to attack in court. But a rising storm is brewing, pitting those patients who do not want to be kept alive by extraordinary measures and those medical professionals or institutions who say they will not perform procedures that outrage the conscience.

People with opposing views are already battling in the lower courts, but any final resolution would have to be hammered out on the anvil of the U.S. Supreme Court, which has shown increasing sympathy for the right to die but has never ruled on the right of conscience.
The right to die and the right to refuse also are issues in healthcare reform legislation, with opponents complaining the bill contains nothing to rein in the do-not-resuscitate procedure or other procedures like abortion.

Shortly before getting out of Dodge in December 2008, the Bush administration issued a tough "conscience protection" rule for the healthcare industry.

President should not wait for the courts to decide that people have a right be gay and in the military, he Like Bush should pre-empt the courts ultimate decision and issue based on recent court decision and outlaw "Don’t Ask Don't Tell".

It should not be how many years you can survive in the White House; it's the legacy and right decisions that he will be remembered for.

I personally believe we need to get religion out of government, as was originally intended and represent all the people. We faced similar challenges for women voting, and black civil rights. Don't wait for the majority to agree, do what is right! Unlike Bush stand up for all the people and set the standard for other countries to follow.

Right to die is our choice since it's our bodies and being gay oriented has nothing to do with servicing your country. Gay servicemen and women have been there since the beginning of the forces. Come on face the obvious move forward!

Ignorant is no excuse! Educate yourself, being GAY is not a choice!

It just pisses me off that in the 21st century with all the education we go through and books available of the subject from experts (not idiots like the dude running for Governor of NY) that people would know by now that being GAY is not a choice.

Ask my daughter and son if at 40 I decided to lose my family, friends and my way of life be be loved for who I was. Yes it was my choice to come out, but I was sexualy active with my cousin from age 5. How do I know that! My family tells me! To me it was natural from the early years. When we played house I chose Tom (not his real name).

When someone loves me today, they know me. Is it important to be accepted as being gay! Well is it important someone is accepted as a heterosexual?

NO_ONE ahould be ashamed and come out before you hurt others like a wife, children and all the links associated with a relationship. It's also nice to have someone your in love with, versus just marrying someone because it's the opposite sex. Who you fall in love with is not sexualy driven and thats the problem with people who are ignorant.

It's very simple! If you don't know what your talking about, say nothing for you irritate people like me. I was told once by a coworker (Babtist), we love the person not the act. The person is gay, the act is sex!

Dammm people irritate me.. I should of been born in the next century when we look at people as people from a creators perspective. And I should remind the religious idiots, that Jesus never mentioned gay and embraced prostitutes! Go FIGURE!

Mad As Hell! Stop The Nonsense! Keep Idiots Out Of Congress!

With the above words the republicans, not by choice have some questionable people running for very high profile government this year. Due to pressure from the Tea Party! Dumb ass people walking around with no teeth and tea bags hanging from their hats have pressured the right to move even further to the right, if that is even possible.

We are ready to go backwards and redo what I believe is a basic need for each American, Health Care. Undo civil rights and tighten ban on gay people and in some cases but women back in their place. I hope people with common sense are mad as hell too! Mad at the stupidity going on and not allow us to go backwards.

We are a very demanding people! We want change immediate! We want to fix what took 8 years to create by the Bush administration. The last election we moved stupidity out of the White House! Now we are ready because we are mad as hell, ready to move some new idiots into congress!

SO LETS ALL GET MAD AND MOVE THE COUNTRY FORWARD, KEEP CIVIAL RIGHTS FOR ALL! AND STOP THE NONSENSE AND KEEP IDIOTS OUT OF POLITICS!

Balance of power

I am a firm believer that if the president is a democrat the congress should be republican. This would allow a balance of power. Maybe some deeper thinking of requested changes verses country needs. The problem with my thinking is that rarely will anything get done.

Our founders would be extremely disappointed of whets accomplished today. There is no more in depth consideration for whets good for the people and the country. As we see latently politicians will do what it takes to get elected. Yes process and people are so corrupted that even when you have good intentions you can’t put them into law

Ethics has been lost over the years and now we are ready to elect anyone we think will make a change and be listening. What we forget and something we never learn from history is that without being political the challenges facing our country end up in deadlock.

Family

In Webster definition of a family it has one interesting persception of the word family "a unit of a crime syndicate (as the Mafia) operating within a geographic area " Sometimes I, in a twisted sort of way I wish that depicted our family. Not that we are of the criminal nature, but we are not a unit. I love my immediate and extended family but at times it's awkward. We can't seem to be honest (a unit) and your always (like a Mafia) walking on eggshells.

Dammm why wasn't I born a jew.

Friendship

Webster defines friendship as "They have enjoyed many years of friendship." You would b amazed of who are your friends. We take that word lightly but friends are very few in between, sort of speak. When hard times, who is there? When you’re lonely, who is there? When you’re suffering, who is there?

Everyone has friends! They come with money and materialism! But I depict friendship this way!

Many years ago I was going to an engineering meeting and I happen to be outside the door when everyone was bad mouthing me! And in the room was someone I never knew was my friend! "He said you all can say what you want to say, But Joe is right!" His name was Ted Gidopolous, and to this day I consider him my friend.

When I came out hundreds of people who I thought were my friends disappeared overnight but two individuals, Nelson Couto and Ronal Rivera!

In 50 years of life I can count in one had how many friends I have. And that is the meaning of friendship.
